Former Liverpool striker Fernando Torres believes that Liverpool is on the right track and that they are edging closer to their first Premier League title.
Torres played for the Anfield side from 2007 to 2011 and said that this was an exciting moment of his career. He said that they come close to winning the Premier League in a couple of occasions and unfortunately could not make it to the end.
He said that he still follows the Liverpool team whenever he has time and that he feels that they are progressing well under Jurgen Klopp. He said that the German manager is an experienced manager and that he is the right person to bring the title back to Liverpool. You just have to see his enthusiasm on the touchline to know that he is someone that wants to win trophies and that he will bring this energy into the team.
Torres said that they have done quite well last season and that he feels that the team will get better this season. He said that they are still in the close seasons and that there is no doubt that the transfer committee is working on getting some new players in the side.
He believes that the team still needs some world class players if they want to make it all the way to the top of the Premier League and that they will need to be prepared to invest massively.
He said that they already have some good players in Coutinho, but they will need a world class striker up front if they want to challenge the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City for the title.
Speaking of himself, he said that he is happy at Atletico Madrid and that he is looking forward to the new season.
