Inter Milan director Piero Ausilio has stated that the club are looking to sign Chelsea striker Fernando Torres in the summer. The Spaniard has fallen down the pecking order in recent months at the club after his failure to capture his Liverpool form. He has managed just five goals in the league throughout the season. He appears to have lost his pace and finishing abilities since his move to Chelsea. Hence, it is believed that the club are widely looking to cut their losses and sell the star in the summer.
Inter Milan have been mooted as a possible destination with the Italian outfit showing a lot of interest. They are trying to rebuild the squad and they get back to the Champions League. They have already signed Vidic on a free transfer from Manchester United. Ausilio says that Torres is the next target on their minds. Inter have also been linked with a move for Bacary Sagna. The 30-year-old Torres only has two years left on his contract, while the club are believed to be on the verge of signing Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid.
This would further lower him down the pecking order with Romelu Lukaku set to return to the club after a successful loan spell at Everton.
“Yes, he is a player we’re following. Torres’s career speaks for itrself – the titles he has won and the teams in which he has played. It’s all about whether he has the right motivation and the desire to be part of a new ambitious project,” said the club director regarding the summer transfer activity of the Italian Giants. Despite the presence of Walter Mazzarri, Inter had once again set to end the season in a disappointing fashion. They are fifth in the table with Europa League place also under threat.
