Branislav Ivanovic is one of a number of Chelsea players who have praised Fernando Torres in recent weeks. Fresh from being lauded by Andre Villas Boas, Torres was tipped by captain John Terry to finish as the season’s top scorer, and now centre-back Ivanovic has tipped Fernando to lead them to glory.
Having scored four goals in four games, Torres is in prolific form right now, and it seems ages ago that he was struggling in front of goal. It just goes to show that class is permanent and form is temporary.
“Fernando’s performance was great. He scored twice and I think this is all a result of Fernando’s hard work in training. We are happy to have him like this on the pitch” said Ivanovic.
“This is important for the confidence of strikers. Even if Fernando doesn’t score, he gives assists and he plays well for the team which is very important for us,” Ivanovic said.
“Fernando is great but to be fair we have a really, really strong squad with players like Didier. This season we have five world-class forwards”
